Night Shift Got Sharper, and Day Shift Is New

Night Shift has been part of Sabi from the start: every night while you sleep, she reads through your connected apps and leaves you a summary for the morning, like a teammate who stayed late. This week we rebuilt Night Shift and gave Sabi a daytime partner called Day Shift. Here's what changed.
Why Night Shift needed an upgrade
Once a night, Sabi opened your connected apps, looked for anything that could cost you money or a deadline, and wrote a short summary for your morning check-in. That worked. Two bad habits, though:
- Night Shift was repetitive. Three overdue invoices on Monday led the summary on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday too. On my own account the same three items led 14 nights in a row.
- Night Shift only ran once every 24 hours. An email that arrived at 10am waited until 2am to be read, and if it didn't look urgent that night it often never made it into her memory at all.
What's new in Night Shift
Sabi now reads her past summaries before she writes a new one, so Night Shift leads with what's new.
| Before | Now | |
|---|---|---|
| What leads the summary | Whatever looked most urgent, even if you'd heard it three nights running | What changed since last night: a reply that landed, a deadline that moved, a thread that went quiet |
| Repeats | About half of each summary repeated the previous night | On the first night, 16 of 233 summaries opened with the same item as the night before |
| Unchanged items | Listed again | Left out. An overdue invoice you already know about isn't news |
| Detail | Short | About twice as long, with the date, the name and the amount that make it real |
| What she remembers | 8 to 15 new facts per account in a five-day test | 88 to 118 new facts per account in the same five days |
| Loose ends | Research she'd been circling for weeks stayed open | Anything she has touched three nights running gets finished or closed |
Night Shift now tells you what changed, not what you already know.
Meet Day Shift
Day Shift is new. Six times a day, from 6am to 9pm your local time, Sabi takes a quick look at your inbox and your meeting recordings for anything that arrived since she last looked. Nothing new, she moves on without a word. Something new, she reads it and files it one of three ways.
| What she finds | What she does with it |
|---|---|
| Something worth remembering: a new contact, a price someone quoted, a decision made on a call | Saves it to memory, so you can ask about it in chat an hour later |
| Something that needs you: a question only you can answer, a deadline, a reply you owe | Adds a ✨ Suggested card to the Review lane on your tasks board |
| Newsletters, receipts, notifications, promotions | Nothing. Noise stays out of your memory |
Sabi never texts you during Day Shift. She works quietly so that Night Shift has fresh material and your morning check-in is complete. She reads email (Gmail, HEY, Zoho and other mailboxes), meeting recordings (Zoom, Granola, Fireflies, Otter) and Slack, and an inbox that has had nothing new all day gets checked less often.
An example from my own account: an email about buying shares in a company arrived mid-morning. Under the old Night Shift, Sabi only learned about it weeks later when I mentioned it in chat. Now it's in her memory by lunch and in that night's summary.
Day Shift gives Sabi an afternoon memory: an email that lands at 10am is something she knows by 1pm.
What you'll notice
- Your morning check-in opens with what changed overnight, and the questions Sabi parked for you are waiting in the Review lane.
- Ask about this afternoon's email and she knows. No more pasting it into chat so she remembers.
- Fewer repeats. If nothing changed, she says so in a line instead of re-listing last week.
- Loose ends get closed. Suggested research she couldn't finish is wrapped up instead of sitting on your board.
Who gets it
Night Shift and Day Shift run for Sabi Pro members. Free and trial accounts keep the morning check-in, and both shifts start the night you upgrade.
Questions or something not working the way you'd expect? Just tell Sabi. Every piece of feedback lands on our board and gets looked at quickly.
